I know this happened back in 2008 and not sure whether they still using the chemical to make the noodle more delicsious. Anyway, just to share out and hopefully, we will remind this as tip of the iceberg.

This restaurant is located in Fushan , China , serving very popular Lanzhou Ra- Mien (noodle) with daily sales of 700 – 1200 bowls…..
這是佛山一家比較有名的蘭州拉麵館,老板自稱來自青海,每天能賣出 700 到 1200 碗蘭州拉麵。

According to the boss, to make such ‘nice’ noodle, some chemical tenderizer
have been added during the mixing process.
在說到為什麼蘭州拉麵會這麼好吃,老板大方地介紹是用了一種叫蓬灰的拉麵劑,再加鹽拉出來的。

According to the boss, all Lanzhou Ra Mien contain this harmful chemical.
問老板其他拉麵店用「拉麵劑」嗎,老板說所有的蘭州拉麵館都用。

This chemical is packed in two difference types of packaging. $3 for the white & $5 for the blue.
外包裝不同的兩種「拉麵劑」,但都來自同樣的工廠;白包裝 3 塊錢,藍包裝 5 塊錢。

The functions of this chemical is to tenderize, improve elasticity/softness of the noodles…

Experiment conducted with this chemical in a paper cup, and you see for yourself, how much of damages this chemical can cause…..
拿了個紙杯做實驗,倒進「拉麵劑」,剛開始只出現水變淺藍色的現象,沒有明顯的發現。

Few light color spots soon appeared ouside the cup, may be the quality of paper cup is not good, the spots are not that clear.
很快地紙杯就出現了幾個光點,可能是紙杯的品質不好吧,一開始並未特別在意。

On the second day, this chemical has sipped through the paper cup
到了第二天,紙杯竟然在嚴重滲漏,杯底也穿洞了,拉麵劑溶液流了出來

流出的溶液所流過的水泥地板都出現了深藍色的痕跡 ……
