The man hated the bright burning thing in the sky. It hovered over him all day long, no matter where he went.

He hated the Sun’s harsh light, the heat it created and the shadows it cast on the earth around him.

He felt like the sun was stealing something from him, separating him from things when what he craved was unity.

“At least at night everything looks the same,” he thought.

That’s why he liked the darkness. The Sun had become his enemy.

One day, unable to stand it any longer, he decided to dig a hole to protect himself from the intolerable rays of sunlight.

His skin, which had been burned a deep brown, began to turn white again, and the shadows of day ceased to annoy him.

But then, sitting in his hole, he realized that the sun continued to flood his hiding place with light from above, and that his shelter was even brighter than the land outside.

He went back to work and had soon dug himself a tunnel and a cave. And there he finally found protection from the Sun.

He spent years in his hole, meditating in solitude, in the coolness of the dark where the Sun never penetrated.

Up on the surface other men grew food and warmed themselves in the heat of the all-giving star. They saw the Sun as a good and protecting God. The Sun was their ally as they learned to tame its extremes. They lived through the seasons, one after the other.

All were thankful for the Sun’s presence, all except for the man who wanted to avoid the light and the contrasts it created. In the end the poor hermit perished in his cave, in darkness, in the calmness and unity of the shadows, but desperate and alone.

And after he died the people didn’t even have to dig a grave for him. It was already there…

Wisdom

Accepting people’s differences, living with others and their strange habits and sometimes incomprehensible
behaviour, can be difficult. We are often tempted to retreat like a hermit into the calmness of home, into the shadows. But life is composed of diversity, of exchange and of change.

When you cut yourself off from your friends, your neighbours and your community, you also lose a part of yourself.

“And what if the tomorrow that I take for granted never comes ?

Or what if tomorrow is my last day on earth ?”

Martha, an old woman of 85, was obsessed with thoughts like these. She lived alone in her big apartment, surrounded by objects from her past.

She would worry all night long, getting up to walk around, then returning to her empty bed, turning the thoughts over and over in her mind like a dog gnawing an old bone. She did it so much that finally her fear turned into wisdom.

The next morning she made herself a promise.

“I am going to live each and every day as if it were my last! That’s the only way to really enjoy life.”

Now Martha reads a lot and spends (a-take out) less time dusting old furniture. She admires the flowers in her garden without worrying too much
about the weeds that crop up here and there.

She invites people she likes to her home, but doesn’t sit there waiting for them to arrive. And when they do arrive, she uses her best china to serve tea and cake, without worrying about a precious cup or plate getting dirty or being broken.

She’s started wearing the beautiful red cashmere jacket her grandchildren gave her for Christmas. She even wears it to go out walking, and puts a
dab of her best perfume behind her ears.

But most importantly, Martha has stopped saying, “I’ll do that one day, when I have the time.”

Now she says, “If it’s worth doing, I’m going to do it now !”

Wisdom

Like Martha, you, too, should think about what you’d do if someone said, “This is your last day on earth !”

You would realize that priorities fall into place naturally, that many things resolve themselves and that whatever is superfluous in your life disappears.

Don’t wait for the day when tragedy strikes to force you to consider what it is you really want to do in life. – By Christian Godefroy

Maybe, I thought it would be so nice to share with people.

Maybe, after reading, you will feel so good.

Ther are so many Maybes………..

Maybe. . we were supposed to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one so that, when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.

Maybe . . . it is true that we don’t know what we have until we lose it, but it is also true that we don’t know what we have been missing until it arrives.

Maybe . . . the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; after all, you can’t go on successfully in life until you let go of your past mistakes, failures and heartaches.

Maybe . . you should hope for enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, and enough hope to make you happy.

Maybe . .. . the happiest of people don’t necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Maybe .. . . the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you’ve ever had.

Maybe . . . happiness waits for all those who cry, all those who hurt, all those who have searched, and all those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of all the people who have touched their lives.

Maybe . . you should do something nice for someone every single day, even if it is simply to leave them alone.

Maybe . . . there are moments in life when you miss someone — a parent, a spouse, a friend, a child — so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real, so that once they are around you appreciate them more.

Maybe … giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don’t expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart; but, if it doesn’t, be content that it grew in yours.

Maybe .. . . you should dream what you want to dream; go where you want to
go, be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you dream of, and want to do.

“Life is only traveled ONCE, today’s MOMENT becomes tomorrow’s MEMORY.
Enjoy every moment, good or bad, because the GIFT of LIFE is LIFE itself….”

The coach then asked him : “What are you thinking?”

He replied : “Each time when I reached at the take-off line and saw the high of the pole, I felt I could not jump over.”

The coach said to him : “You surely can jump over. First, you just have to let your heart pass through the pole, then your body will follow .”

The athlete then followed what the coach said and finally he was able to jump over the pole.

Wisdom

The most difficult to overcome by a person is psychological barriers. If you want to overcome the obstacle, it is necessary to let the heart passes over the pole.
